Discipleship

And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

-- 2 Timothy 2:2

Small Groups

Having seen the benefits and powerful effects of small groups in churches in the US, it's difficult to imagine a strong church body without them.  When thinking of future plans in churches along the Cayapas River, one of the most exciting areas is the thought of leading - and training others to lead - small groups.

Psalm 96 Ministries encourages small group ministries in local churches, and seeks to equip those who may serve as leaders of other groups.

Biblical Community

God's people everywhere need to experience Biblical community.  It is our desire to waken a thirst for God in the villages and that believers would crave Christian fellowship with one another, bearing one another's burdens, and that older believers would teach the younger ones.  A cord of three strands is not easily broken.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
                                                                     --Hebrews 10:24-25

Family Life

One of the areas where our culture is most different from Pichiyacu is in the area of family life.  Until recently, the concept of marriage did not exist in the village, and it is still extremely rare among the non-churched.  Among the un-churched, many men are alcoholics, few care for their children, and many of the women live in fear of their husbands.

A focus on improving family life (through marriage and parenting seminars, etc.) has provided many missionaries and evangelists with the opportunities needed to reach entire villages.  We hope to disciple believers in these critical areas, creating visible change in the ways they manage their family life.
